Recently I have had some fence panels in the garden replaced as they were rotting and falling down. My agent told me that someone would come round and replace one that had fallen down recently. When I got home I was surprised to see that they hadn’t colour matched it to the remaining fence panels and just left it as plain wood. I asked the agent if she was waiting to replace the rest before painting them or if someone was coming round soon but the reply was that painting/ staining the fence panels is the responsibility of the tenants? Fine, I can get some fence paint and do it myself but I’m sure she wouldn’t be happy if I painted them all hot pink or purple or some other crazy colour?? If I paint them, would I have to somehow strip the paint at the end? Or how does it work? Thanks in advance
This is the landlords problem . Don’t paint unless you have permission in writing
Ask the landlord what they want to do
If you really want to paint ask the landlord what colour could be a standard colour
Ask the landlord to pay for the paint
The better context is that the Landlord is happy with mismatched fence panels. If you're not satisfied, you can pay for it yourself.
Do expect shenanigans with your deposit if you paint them all hot pink, lol. Unless it is in writing, the "consent" you got to paint them will undoubtedly be denied ever happened.
